Single lines and paired lines

Compare the Taytools wheel gauge with the iGaging mortise-wheel format, Kakuri single and dual-blade kebiki gauges and Crown’s pin-style mortise/marking gauge. Identify the cutting or marking element and the reference face. An advertised micro-adjustment does not establish the same travel, cutter fitting or paired-line function on every gauge.

Angles and center references

The Rockler saddle square fixes one 1:6 dovetail ratio; the Clarke Brothers marker supplies four selected slopes. The Woodpeckers MT set is an inch-format center-gauge set, while the DFM small square combines its own square and center-finding features. Choose the actual reference needed instead of treating every layout accessory as a universal square.

Span is not spacing

Trend’s M/P2P01 expands across a stated span. That overall reach is not the adjacent gap between every marking point. Confirm the workpiece span and division arrangement for the selected tool. If you need one scored line rather than a gauge, compare the Narex dual-bevel marking knife and its actual edge format.

Questions before you choose

Can I choose a mortise gauge only by its maximum reach?

Also check whether it makes one or two lines, the marking element and how the pair is adjusted. Reach alone does not define those functions.

Does the 1:6 saddle square provide several dovetail slopes?

The selected Rockler reference is the 1:6 format. The four-slope marker is a separate option for a different angle selection.

Is the Trend span the distance between neighboring points?

No. The stated 85–710 mm range describes overall span. Determine the intended division and useful adjacent spacing separately.
