Compare holdfast interfaces, vise mounting, portable support and accessories that still require another clamp or vise.
1. Write down the bench interface
For a holdfast or dog accessory, identify the exact bench or table system, actual hole and relevant bench dimensions. Narex, POWERTEC, Sjöbergs and WORX references should not be treated as interchangeable because their catalogue images all show a post or dog.
2. Compare jaw opening with installation space
Opening describes the room for the workpiece; jaw size, throat and mounting arrangement describe other parts of the setup. The Pony 27091 manual distinguishes its 7-inch jaws, 8-inch opening and 3-inch throat. Its bench-thickness and shim instructions are installation information for that exact model, not a universal rule for every vise.
3. Account for separate equipment
The Pony and Wilton pages identify mounting-equipment limits. Sjöbergs Smart Vise still needs external securing, while the file clamp needs a separate bench vise. A four-piece WORX dog set does not include the table or its other clamps. Build the purchase list around the whole support arrangement.
4. Add a different holding function
The BORA dog fence is a fence rather than another face vise. The Wilton pivot-jaw mechanism is a selected assembly feature, not a claim that every workpiece can be safely held at any angle. Compare the actual model instructions and the shape of the piece before choosing an accessory for its name alone.
Questions before you choose
I do not own a bench vise. Is the Sjöbergs file clamp a complete solution?
It is an accessory held by a separate vise. Compare a complete vise assembly and its mounting requirements first, or the Smart Vise with its separately needed external securing equipment.
Which installation detail is easy to miss with the Pony 27091?
Bench thickness and mounting hardware. Its manual describes shimming below the stated thickness threshold, and the selected tool does not include mounting hardware. Read the exact installation before planning the purchase.
Does the BORA dog fence duplicate a face vise?
It supplies a fence function using its selected dog arrangement. A face vise supplies a different holding mechanism. Compare the task and bench interface rather than treating both as the same clamp.
