What this tool adds
What this tool adds to your bench
Choose the M9WW when frequent changes in workpiece size make rapid jaw repositioning useful. Its lever disengages the screw for adjustment; the screw then provides the clamping action. Compare that workflow with a conventional vise that is repositioned by turning the handle throughout its travel.
Yost specifies 9 inch-wide jaws and a maximum opening of 10-1/4 inches. Jaw width is the span of the contact face, while opening is the gap available between the jaws. Consider both against the parts you plan to hold rather than treating the 9 inch name as the capacity in every direction.
The vise has a cast-iron body, a buttress-threaded main screw, steel guide rails and a chrome-plated sliding T-bar handle. A front bench dog provides another workholding reference. These are construction and operating details, not an independently tested clamping-force rating.
Check the mounting arrangement and clearance on your own bench before choosing this larger quick-release format. The throat-depth information is inconsistent: the maker and listing specify4 inches, but the selected graphic labels3 inches. Confirm that depth if it controls your project; no single throat figure is used as a filter here.
Choose for your actual work
- Choose quick release for frequent jaw repositioning.
- Check mounting clearance and the actual throat depth before buying.
Fit checks & limits
- Throat depth 3 versus 4 inches remains unresolved.
- No guaranteed clamping force or universal bench mounting is established.
Questions before you choose
When is the quick-release lever useful?
It disengages the screw for rapid repositioning when moving between different part sizes. Final clamping still uses the screw rather than the lever alone.
Is9 inches the largest gap between the jaws?
It is the jaw width. The selected source and maker specify10-1/4 inches for the maximum opening.
Can I rely on a 4 inch throat for my project?
The maker and text give4 inches, but the selected diagram labels3 inches. Confirm the actual selected unit if that difference affects whether your part can be held.
