What this tool adds

What this tool adds to your bench

The SDE-002 combines a short 150 mm blade with a stiffening back for small joinery. Choose it for work such as dovetails, tenons or small frames when the backed format suits the cut. The back supports the blade but also needs clearance above the work, so it is not the same approach as an unbacked Kataba.

This selected model uses 17 TPI universal teeth described for rip, crosscut and angled cuts. A dedicated rip-tooth saw such as the Temple 240 mm model is a different comparison: choose the tooth design against the grain direction and joints you cut most often, not the Dozuki name alone.

Its blade is replaceable, with a wooden vinyl-rattan-wrapped handle and a carbon-steel back. The complete-tool length is 390 mm and the listed weight 150 g. Check the complete span if working or storage space is restricted.

The available blade-thickness and kerf figures differ between the dimension graphic and the current specifications. They are not used here as settled guide-fit dimensions. If a dovetail guide or narrow kerf is critical, confirm the current blade and guide clearance before buying; a small joinery saw is not automatically compatible with every guide.

Choose for your actual work

  • Choose universal or dedicated rip teeth from your actual joint cuts.
  • Confirm back clearance and guide fit rather than relying on blade length alone.

Fit checks & limits

  • Blade thickness and kerf remain unsettled across the available sources.
  • No maximum cutting depth or universal dovetail-guide fit is established.
  • The 25 TPI crosscut D-004 is a different 150 mm model.

Use & care

Use a replacement specified for SDE-002; blade length alone does not establish fit.

Questions before you choose

Is every 150 mm Suizan Dozuki the same tooth design?

No. This selected SDE-002 has 17 TPI universal teeth. A same-size D-004 crosscut model has a different tooth specification.

Why check the back before buying for a deep cut?

The stiffening spine needs clearance above the blade. A maximum working depth is not established by the 150 mm blade length.

Can I choose a dovetail guide from the stated kerf?

The available kerf and plate-thickness figures disagree. Confirm the current blade dimensions and guide requirements before relying on a fit.
