What this tool adds
What this tool adds to your bench
The KBS-50 gives you two wooden side handles to guide the blade across a whetstone. Its top screw secures the blade while the roller supports movement along the stone. Compare that grip with a small side-clamping guide when deciding how you want to support the sharpening stroke.
Kakuri specifies chisel widths from 3 to 42 mm and hand-plane blade widths from 42 to 70 mm. These are two stated application ranges, not a claim that every blade section within them will clamp in the same way. Check the actual blade shape and seating.
The selected source describes a steel body with ash-wood handles. It is the single-guide selection. Stones, chisels and plane blades shown in demonstrations are not established as supplied, and a demonstrated angle aid should not be assumed to be another included accessory.
Choose this format for its handles and roller support. Compare the Veritas Mk.II when a separate registration jig and micro-bevel control are important, or the WoodRiver stepped-jaw guide for a smaller adjustment format. Confirm complete dimensions and blade-thickness fit if those control your setup; the available size fields are inconsistent.
Choose for your actual work
- Compare how you want to hold and support the blade.
- Check the blade section and stone setup independently of width.
Fit checks & limits
- Complete dimensions and weight differ across sources.
- No universal blade-thickness limit or fixed-angle range is established.
- Demonstrated stones, blades and angle aid are not established as supplied.
Questions before you choose
What do the side handles change?
They provide a place to hold the guide on either side of the blade while the roller supports movement. Compare that arrangement with gripping a smaller side-clamping guide.
Will every70 mm plane iron fit?
Seventy millimeters is the upper stated plane-blade width. The blade’s section, thickness and seating still need to suit the clamp.
Does it include the stone shown in use?
The selection is a single guide. A stone or the demonstrated blades are not established as part of the package.
