What this tool adds
What this tool adds to your bench
Choose the No. 105 for dedicated crosscuts when a fine tooth pattern is the priority. The selected source names hardwoods such as oak, teak and maple. Compare that 22 TPI crosscut edge with the coarser 14 TPI Kataba rather than choosing between them from blade length alone.
The blade is nominally 255 mm, or about ten inches, and 0.020 inch thick. It has no stiffening spine along its back, giving a different clearance arrangement from a backed Dozuki. A maximum working depth is not established by the blade length or the absence of a spine.
The selected source describes impulse-hardened teeth and a bamboo-wrapped wooden handle. The complete saw is listed at 22 inches long. Its blade is replaceable: the original publisher identifies the spare as item 155617, also offered as the S-105 replacement.
Choose it for fine cross-grain work with an open approach to the stock. Compare the Suizan Kataba for a different crosscut pitch or the 651 Ryoba when a second rip edge is useful. It is one complete saw; the extra saws and replacement blade suggested on the publisher’s page are separate purchases.
Choose for your actual work
- Choose the crosscut pitch against the work rather than length alone.
- Order the exact replacement relationship instead of assuming all 255 mm blades fit.
Fit checks & limits
- Confirm the kerf and usable cutting depth if a joint or guide depends on those dimensions.
- Match spare equipment and specifications to Razorsaw No. 105; specifications shown for neighboring products do not establish this saw’s fit.
Use & care
The blade is replaceable; use the specified No. 105 replacement relationship.
Questions before you choose
Why compare this with the 265 mm Suizan Kataba?
They have different crosscut tooth counts as well as slightly different lengths. Compare the fine 22 TPI pattern here with the 14 TPI pattern on the Suizan.
Can I use a blade from the suggested Dozuki or flush-cut saw?
Those are separate models. The publisher specifies replacement 155617 / S-105 for this No. 105; a related-product suggestion does not establish compatibility.
Does an unbacked blade guarantee any cutting depth?
It removes the separate spine-clearance requirement of a backed saw, but maximum depth and practical access are not specified here.
