This plane is for easing an edge into a chosen profile. The pack has one 45-degree chamfer cutter and three round-profile cutters labelled 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4 inch. That gives a useful choice between a flat bevel and different rounded edges in one tool. Select it for this guided edge work rather than for flattening the broad face of a board.
The thumbwheel adjusts the cutter position, and a rear compartment stores the interchangeable heads. The four profile choices belong to one complete plane system, so you can compare the flat chamfer with the three radius heads without buying a different plane body for each edge shape.
The cutters are O1 tool steel and the body is described as die-cast aluminum alloy. A brand feature image specifies a stainless-steel contact sole: these are different parts, not competing descriptions of the same material. Check that the guiding contacts can register on the board corner you intend to ease, especially beside an obstruction or on a partly enclosed piece.
Use the profile sizes as the supplied radius-head labels, not as maximum board thickness or a universal cutting-depth limit. A spokeshave is the more relevant comparison for shaping a changing curve, while a block plane offers a conventional small-plane arrangement for general edge fitting. This 70748 offer contains the plane, its four head choices and the described instruction sheet; a separate blade-only kit is not another complete plane.
